The Arizona Coyotes held its much anticipated 2015 NHL Draft/rally/jersey reveal party at Gila River Arena last Friday. With the recent legal troubles regarding the City of Glendale and the unveiling of a new jersey, fans were eager to come out and support their hometown Coyotes. And for those who weren’t there, FOX Sports Arizona provided real time coverage on its social media platforms that generated a big amount of traction.
Fans were invited down to Gila River Arena at 3 p.m. to start all of the pre-draft/rally festivities. With the jersey unveiling at 4, fan were able to walk around the arena to interact with staff before the NHL Draft and unveiling began. Once 4 o’clock hit, fans were sitting anxiously in their seats ready to see what the new look Coyotes. The curtain dropped, and the crowd went wild!
Once the Coyotes unveiled their new jerseys, it was time for the 2015 NHL Draft to start. Optimism ran through Gila River Arena as fans were uncertain if the Coyotes were going to trade the third overall pick or keep it. With Connor McDavid going No. 1 to Edmonton and Jack Eichel going No. 2 to Buffalo, the Coyotes were on the clock. The arena became silent until they heard Don Maloney’s voice select Dylan Strome. The crowd went crazy as they knew a new era of Coyotes hockey was coming to the Valley.
Finally came the tour on @FOXSPORTSAZ. Fans got behind the scenes access of the players weight room, training facility and locker room. From their hockey sticks, their previous awards and being able to see where the player got ready, fans took in the whole NHL hockey team experience.
